Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates was founded in 2012, by Dr. Chris Pagnani, who was
raised in Cape May County, New Jersey (Ocean City). His father served the South Jersey Community as a surgeon for 35+ years, at both Shore Medical Center and Cape Regional Health Systems (Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital at the time). When setting up his private practice in Psychiatry, it was important to Dr. Pagnani to also be able to serve this community. Dr. Pagnani and the 25+ psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners & psychologists at Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates are now providing Psychiatric care to Ocean City, Upper Township, Egg Harbor Township, Linwood, Somers Point, Cape May and the surrounding communities for Anxiety and Depression Treatment, Bipolar Disorder and ADHD Medication Management, and addiction (including alcoholism) via both in-office psychiatric appointments and virtual Telehealth Psychiatric visits.
Dr. Pagnani is additionally an Instructor at the Johns Hopkins Hospital for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (since 2012) and a supervisor for psychiatric residents at Jefferson Hospital. The providers at Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates believe in providing Academically oriented, evidenced-based and holistic psychiatric care. They have noticed an increase in telemedicine psychiatry throughout the country, and believe that many of these large virtual companies are overly prescribing psychiatric medications (even controlled medications for anxiety and ADHD) via short visits, online checklists and subscription plans. This is concerning. Psychiatric medications (even controlled medications) may be part of a patient’s treatment plan, but providers need to practice thoughtful, thorough and conscientious prescribing. Psychiatry is not one-size-fits-all, and we believe in care that is tailored to the individual.
We are a fee-for-service psychiatric practice. We are able to provide receipts to patients, so that they can submit to their insurance companies, should they have out-of-network benefits. We understand that some individuals would prefer to try to find in-network psychiatric providers. Thus, we have included resources and information on this page, for individuals to find psychiatric providers outside of our practice, should they feel that we are not the best fit for their individual psychiatric needs.
