ADHD Skills Training with Dr. Angelo Rannazzisi
Dr. Angelo Rannazzisi, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Instructor at The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he received advanced training at The Center for Cognitive Therapy at The University of Pennsylvania and has also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was the Lead Behavioral Health Consultant for their Primary Care Integrated Behavioral Health Program.
Dr. Rannazzisi maintains a private practice at Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates, where he provides psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, life and career transitions, relationship distress and other challenges. He additionally has a focus on treating college and graduate students, and is offering group and individual therapy specifically for helping patients learn skills and organizational strategies to manage symptoms of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Dr. Rannazzisi has found that ADHD skills training can reduce a patient’s need for pharmacological intervention. With that said, he has also found that for moderate to severe symptoms, skills training can work very well in conjunction with other forms of treatment.
Options for Treatment:
Individual Skills Training: Schedule an initial 60-min evaluation for individual therapy with Dr. Rannazzisi by calling 267-358-6155 x 1. Individuals can also email scheduling@rittenhousepa.com. Initial evaluations are typically available within 4 weeks, but tend to fill quickly at the start of fall, spring and summer academic calendars. Patients will often have an initial visit, followed by 45-minute follow-ups every 1 to 2 weeks for a total of 6 – 8 sessions. Patients then typically move to a “booster” session frequency of an appointment every 4 – 6 weeks. Booster sessions can help individuals maintain the skills that they develop, throughout their academic career. They also can create accountability for the student, to maintain long-term change. 60-minute initial evaluations are 265 dollars and follow-up 45-minute visits 190.
Group Skills Training: Dr. Rannazzisi offers 8-week ADHD Skills Groups throughout the year. These group sessions are 90-minutes in length, with a target class size of 6 – 8 students. The course includes informational knowledge about ADHD, skill development to improve organization and planning strategies, and techniques to improve adaptive thinking and executive functioning. The course is based on the ACCESS program. Each 90-minute session is 60 dollars. We recommend that students additionally schedule 30 minute one-on-one coaching sessions each week with Dr. Rannazzisi throughout the group skills training course (90 dollars per 30 min individual session), but these are not required. Students who wish to bundle the 8 week course with 8 individual sessions, can pre-pay for a 15% discount (non-refundable and individual sessions must be used within a month of the date of the last skills group). Individual sessions are scheduled with Dr. Rannazzisi directly after the first group class. Patients are responsible for setting aside time each week for group classes, and make-up sessions are not available. Patients scheduling all 8 sessions ahead-of-time can receive one free individual additional session, if they cannot make one of the 8 group classes.
