Sonya Mendelovich, BSW MBA

Ms. Mendelovich completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. She offers over 30 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings including detoxification, inpatient hospitalization and outpatient programs offering individual and group therapy. Sonya is a trainer and speaker on the Recovery Oriented System of Care in collaboration with Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disabilities. She has developed and grown innovative service delivery models. She has a great deal of experience working with individuals with Depression and Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Alcohol and Other Drug use, work and relationship struggles, and life transitions (including college and graduate student mental health).
Sonya is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at The Beck Institute of The University of Pennsylvania and Family Systems Intervention at the Minuchin Family Institute in Tel-Aviv. In addition, she is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Counseling, mindfulness and CBT-I (cognitive behavioral treatment for Insomnia). Her approach emphasizes the mutual development of goals and provision of ongoing support. Services include individual, family and group supportive counseling and coaching.
Sonya brings over 30 years’ experience as director of operations and program development for Alcohol and other substance use, mental health and detoxification treatment in inpatient and outpatient programs. Sonya established client focused systems of care including staff supervision and clinical training throughout the Philadelphia Metropolitan region, Lehigh Valley and Delaware.
Sonya’s focuses on supportive counseling, interpersonal and communication skills development, work life balance, life transitions, immigration, cultural competence, and emotional regulation through a solution oriented, pragmatic approach. She is proficient in strength-based person-centered supportive counseling to attain equanimity in emotional, social, spiritual, physical and community arenas.
Sonya has flexible availability in person and virtually and is fluent in Russian and Hebrew.
