Sarah Friedman, Psy.D.

Director of Neuropsychology & Psychological Assessments

Dr. Sarah Friedman is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist and Pennsylvania-certified school psychologist with specialized training in neuropsychological, psychoeducational, and developmental assessment across the lifespan. As Director of Neuropsychology & Psychological Assessments at Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates, Dr. Friedman leads the practice’s comprehensive testing services and provides detailed evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Her evaluations focus on clarifying complex diagnostic questions—including neurodevelopmental conditions, ADHD, learning disorders, autism spectrum profiles, mood- and anxiety-related cognitive concerns, concussion, and age-related cognitive changes—to guide treatment planning, educational decision-making, and accommodations.

In addition to her assessment work, Dr. Friedman provides therapy using a cognitive-behavioral and strengths-based approach. She works with children, adolescents, and adults with concerns such as anxiety, depression, attention and executive functioning challenges, and academic or life transitions. Her therapeutic style emphasizes collaboration, practical coping strategies, and helping individuals understand how cognitive and emotional factors interact in daily functioning. She also offers parent guidance and family-based support, helping caregivers implement consistent, developmentally informed strategies at home.

Dr. Friedman earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Widener University, where she completed dual tracks in Neuropsychology and School Psychology. Her doctoral internship included rotations at the Penn Memory Center—conducting evaluations for Alzheimer’s disease, neurodegenerative conditions, and neurologic disorders—and at the Neurobehavioral Wellness Center, where she assessed children, adolescents, and adults for autism, ADHD, learning disorders, traumatic brain injury, and psychiatric concerns. She completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at the RSM Psychology Center and the Sports Concussion Center of New Jersey, where she conducted comprehensive evaluations, cognitive rehabilitation, concussion management, and provided supervision to trainees.

Before joining Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates, Dr. Friedman worked at a private group practice conducting neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations. In that role, she also provided supervision and didactic training for postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. She also holds a Master’s degree in Crisis and Trauma Studies from Tel Aviv University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the women’s varsity soccer team. Dr. Friedman is an active member of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, the International Neuropsychological Society, and the Association of School Psychologists of Pennsylvania.
