Paula Bu, MD

Dr. Paula Bu is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who treats psychiatric conditions including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and PTSD.

In addition to an individualized approach to medication management, she provides psychodynamic psychotherapy. She can collaborate with your existing therapist if your need at this time is primarily medication management. She works with those struggling with work-life balance, interpersonal relationships, and life transitions. She also has significant experience treating college students, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people of color.

She has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals in gynecologic oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and psychiatry, and has presented her work nationally. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and supervises psychiatry resident physicians.

Dr. Bu graduated from Harvard College with High Honors in the Comparative Study of Religion. She received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University with a certificate in clinical translational research. She completed her Adult Psychiatry residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. She received additional psychotherapy training through the Preparatory Program in Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychotherapy at the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute, America’s oldest psychoanalytic organization.
