Professional Background

Sydney began her nursing career at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, supporting youth ages 3 to 21 with complex medical and psychiatric needs. She then joined Nemours Children’s Hospital as a nurse practitioner, providing consult-liaison psychiatric care across the ICU, emergency department, and medical-surgical units. Before nursing, she conducted cognitive neuroscience research at MIT and worked as a residential counselor at McLean Hospital. She earned her BA in Psychology magna cum laude from the University of Rochester and her BSN and MSN in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received a research grant to study the mental and physical health effects of dance. Currently, she teaches as a simulation instructor at University of Pennsylavnia’s School of Nursing.
